Vol 2 No. 10: Thankful for 10 years after colorectal cancer

Brought to you by

Dear Thriver,

This is not our regular issue of the Colorectal Cancer Research Digest.

October 4th marks my 10-year cancer-versary. October is the 10th month of the year. And fittingly, this special issue is Volume 2, Number 10 of our newsletter.

With all these 10s, it felt like the perfect opportunity to pause, reflect, and say thank you for being part of this community and for your continued support of our work.

With gratitude,

🍽️ The Digest: Even I can’t believe there’s research on this – Gratitude and Cancer

Year published: 2025

How the research was done:

Researchers interviewed 15 people with advanced cancer in China to better understand how they experienced and expressed gratitude after their diagnosis.

What the research showed:

Why is this important:

As a researcher, I'll admit this isn't the kind of study that's going to change clinical practice.

But I have a soft spot for research like this because it reminds us of the humanity behind cancer.

And honestly, I never thought I'd find a study on gratitude and cancer.

What resonated most was that many participants felt a simple "thank you" wasn't enough to express what they felt for the people who supported them through cancer.

I think that's exactly why I created 10 Days of Gratitude for 10 Years After Colorectal Cancer.

💙 10 days gratitude for 10 years after CRC

As I thought about how to celebrate this milestone, I kept coming back to one idea: thank you.

Over the past decade, I have been fortunate to be surrounded by remarkable people, opportunities, and experiences. Looking back, I'm not sure I ever adequately expressed how much they meant to me.

10 Days of Gratitude for 10 Years After Colorectal Cancer is my way of trying.
